Chopped Strands Mat Emulsion & Powder Bonded
Fibreglass chopped strand mat is a randomly and uniformly deposited of 50mm chop strands. Fibreglass chopped strands mat is used for hand lay up and contact moulding application. There is two types of chopped strands mats are available.
Emulsion bonded  : this mat has polyester plasticized polyvinyl acetate emulsion binder Powder bonded    :  this mat has bisphenolic polyester powder binder.

Charateristics

CSM
Powder Mat

CSM
Emulsion Mat

Remarks

Wet Out

1 -2 min.

4 – 6 min

CSM powder bonded mat has excellent wet out properties than emulsion bonded mat.

Wet Through

15 Sec

1 -3 min

Powder bonded mat has better wet through than emulsion mat.

Air Release

Excellent

Good

Due to slow wetting Emulsion bonded mat is more prone to air voids than powder bonded mat

Glass To Resin Ratio

1: 2

1 :2

Its depend according to moulder, Resin viscosity etc.

Mat Handability

Good

Excellent

Emulsion bonded mat has better handling properties than powder bonded mat.

Mat Binder Solubility

High

Low Mdium

Due to powder binder powder bonded Mat has high solubility.

Laminate Translucency

Excellent with Rooflite Resin

Fair

80% light transmission is possible in laminate made from powder mat  with good quality rooflite grade resin.

Drain Resistance

Very Good

Good

Powder bonded mat has good drain resistance compared to emulsion mat as polyester binder aids faster wet out.

Chemical Resistance

Excellent

Good

Due to bisphenol based polyester powder binder poweder bonded mat has better chemical resistance than Emulsion bonded mat

Laminate  strength

Excellent

Good

Due to bisphenol based polyester powder binder poweder bonded mat has better chemical resistance than Emulsion bonded mat

ROVING

Roving : Roving is continuous single end glass fibre Of various tex. i.e.200, 300,600,1200, 2400 44000 & 9600Tex. Roving used for various process i.e. Filament Winding, Pultrusion, Weaving & Woven Roving manufacturing. Glass Fibre Roving are compatible with Unsaturated Resin i.e. Polyester , Vinylester & Epoxy.

ASSEMBLED ROVING

Assembled / Chop Roving : This roving are multi end and hence called chop or Assembled Roving. This roving are used for filament  winding, spray up process, panel manufacturing, centrifugal casting, SMC etc.
Assembled roving also used for manufacturing Chopped Strands Mat, and Chopped strands. Glass Fibre Assembled Roving are compatible with Unsaturated Resin i.e.  Polyester , Vinylester & Epoxy.

CHOPPED STRANDS FOR TPA

Chopped Strands for TPA : This chopped stands are specially developed and coated for compatible with various types of Thermoplastic application. i.e. PP, PA, NL, PPO, PS, ABS, PC etc.

CHOPPED STRANDS FOR THERMOSET

Chopped Strands for Thermoset : This chopped strands are specially developed and coated for compatible with Bulk Moulding Compound ( BMC), Dove Moulding Compound ( DMC ) Resin.

WOVEN ROVING

Woven Roving : Woven Rovings are made from weaving untwisted direct roving of various tex according to applications and process and requirements.  Mostly woven rovings are used in combination with Chopped  Strand Mat to give thickness and mechanical strength to laminate.

UD MAT

UD Mat  : UD mat are made from weaving untwisted direct roving in one direction. i.e. warp This is specially used for obtaining strength in one direction.

STITCH MAT
Stitch Mat  : Fibre glass stitch mat is made of randomly oriented chopped stands stitched together with polyester yarn. Stitch Mat / Pressure moulding mat is designed for contact moulding, pultrusion and RTM process.

FIBRE MESH

Fibre mesh :  Used in construction industries to reinforce the plasters and pillers.

YARN

Yarn   : Yarn is single or multiple glass fibre strands of > 10 micron obtain by twisting. This yarns are used for making fabric.

SURFACE MAT

Surface Mat  : Surface Mat is a thin fibrous mat designed to reinforce the resin rich layer of an FRP moulding in contact with the chemical environment.

FABRICS

Fabrics : Fabrics made from weaving yarn which has been treated with a textile size and twist. Fabrics are usually used for obtain higher strength.

COBALT

Cobalt  :Cobalt is also known as Accelerator in composite industry. Addition of Cobalt  accelerate  reaction of Resin and Catalyst. Most commonly used accelerators are cobalt napthenate and cobalt octoate. Cobalt napthenate /octoate available in 2%,3% and 6% cobalt metal content.. It is  used to start gelation of the resin and propagation of complete cure at room temperature with hydroperoxide catalysts.

CATALYST

Catalyst : Methyl Ethyl ketone peroxide is organic peroxides commonly used in composite industry as a  Catalyst.

WAX POLISH

Wax Polish  : Wax is a mould releasing agent which is used to release laminated part from the mould after completion of the exothermic reaction or curing.

BRUSH

Brush : Smooth hair brushes used for the resin application. Good quality brushes should be used, as bristles  have tendency to stick to the surface of the mould during resin application.

ROLLERS

Rollers : Rollers are used to remove entrapped air bubbles in the resin after application. Rollers is to be  moved over the impregnated composite laminate with little pressure to remove air bubbles.
